To Calm Down, Hold Hands

According to Neuroscientist James A. Coan at the University of Virginia, if you are stressed out there is a simple way to help you calm down.  He says you should hold hands with someone.

Brain scans of women under stress show they get calmer when holding a man's hand even that of a stranger.  Stress reduction was even greater when the woman held the hand of someone she was close too.

The greatest impact was seen by women who married and holding the hands of their husbands.  It is thought that hold hands may also lower a woman's perception of pain.
